A movie in the mail for once instead of view instant! The selected feature was 2009's The Informant! with Matt Damon as lead character Mark Whitacre. The basis for the film is off true events, but as the disclaimer shows (and after watching), they made some tweaks to the story.
A movie feature I have not made comments on in a while, the music in the film was absolutely amazing! The music fit in perfect with every other aspect, which we will discuss some of below. The music was funny, witty, light-hearted and well selected. Although most of the music was not "songs" it helped the feel of the movie immensely.
Script was the other major factor in bringing the film up. Matt's character had so many one liners and punches throughout that made the feel of the entire film vastly different that it could have been. This film could have been filmed as a very serious based on real life drama, but the directors (which did an amazing job btw) took a different approach and I think it was for the better.
Filming and decor were amazing as well. The film starts off back in 1992, and it looks the part. The film goes way beyond traditional movie props such as clothing and cars to add in features such as film and look, and editing things such as fonts and colors of credits and informative captions.
Acting all around was incredible. Damon did a phenomenal job. This is a tough one for me to admit, as I have been a Damon hater due to all the horrible things he has done with Ben Affleck. All supporting cast did a very good job as well, none of them were names of note for the most part. I was impressed with a small supporting role played by Ann Cusack. Yep, she is related and has the same voice and similar looks to the very disturbingly horrible actress Joan. What surprised me is the fact that she wasn't as bad as her sister! It was a small role, and I don't want to pay her too much homage however.
All in all, The Informant! is well worth the watch. It bases real life situation and turns it masterfully in to a very entertaining film that will have you snickering throughout. For this I am giving The Informant! a 4 star rating. Yup, 4 stars. Do you know what that means? Why are you still reading this and not going to rent it? Ciao for now, and come let me know what you thought!
